DEATH VALLEY NATIONAL PARK, CALIFORNIA

This is a very strange landscape. Sure it is a desert, but what a colourful one.
Sometimes I thought of paintings by Salvador Dali - it was so unreal.

Zabriskie Point

Dante's View

Here you have a fabulous view over the whole valley.
In the background you can see salt on the ground. There is a lot of it, since there was an ocean thousands of years ago.
Devil's Golf Course

Sunset was just a few minutes ahead. This place was very impressive. There is salt everywhere...
Zabriskie Point

This is one of my favourite pictures. It just looks like it was painted.

HOOVER DAM, NEVADA/ ARIZONA

16.000 workers built the Hoover Dam (223 meters high) and 96 of them died. The concrete that was used to build this dam would have been enough to build a 4 lane highway from Paris to Moscow.

The towers you see here are 120 meters high. Lake Mead is the largest artificial lake in the USA. Its coastline measures about 1.300 kms. The depth is approx. 150 meters.
SAN FRANCISCO, MARINE HEADLANDS NRA

Just across the bay there is the beautiful Marine Headlands NRA. You can walk here for hours close to the Pacific Ocean...
This view goes left.
Marine Headlands NRA

We spent two nights in a wonderful hostel situated directly in the green hills of
Marine Headlands NRA.
This view goes right.
Golden Gate Bridge

From the hills of Marine Headlands NRA you have a wonderful view of the
Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco.

Downtown

Paintings

You can see so many paintings on walls etc. Very creative and inspiring.
